Mothers Day - An Interview with Michael Fegent
Sunday 14th May
Mother’s day is just around the corner, and we are reveling in the one day a year we put time aside to celebrate the important women in our lives. We asked our very own Michael Fegent, joint owner of Tequila Mockingbird, to to open up his bashful heart and tell us what Momma Fegent means to him. Because if you cant say it on Mothers Day, when can you, eh?
Michael, Are you a Mummy’s boy?
I speak to both my parents everyday. Does that make me a Mummy’s boy? 99% of the time I am either asking for something or purposely trying to annoy them.
Lucky ‘rents! Do you think you’ve inherited your character from your Mother?
I’ve inherited my hyperactivity from my Mum, as well my passion for motorbikes, fast cars and rock music. Best of all, an innate capability to completely embarrass myself in public with no cares given.
Sounds like a wise woman, What’s the most significant life lesson she has taught you?
‘Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are’.
What impact did having a child have to your relationship with your Mum?
My respect for her increased tenfold, having one child is intense. I cannot fathom what it would be like having 5 (the 5th being my Dad).
What was the naughtiest thing you did as a child?
At school we had a conduct book. Every time you were naughty you got a black cross next to your name, if you got three crosses you were not allowed to go on school camp. I got seven, so I broke into the Head Masters office, stole the conduct book and burnt it.
Whats the best gift you ever bought your Mum?
Tickets to Pearl Jam. She snuck in half a bottle of Bundaberg OP rum in a sports water pouch. Good times.
Mrs Fegent sounds like a lady we’d like to meet!
If you’d like to spoil Mum this Mothers day, Come celebrate with us at Tequila Mockingbird where we’ll be offering an 8 dish set menu, and throwing in a complimentary cocktail for every Momma at the table.
